Fireman's museum

These two pieces were created to be part of a museum exhibition in Cambridge New Zealand. The exhibit tells the history of fire fighting in Cambridge, I was tasked with creating illustrations of historic figures; Charles Hassett (a night watchman employed by the town to stop arsons) and James Murphy (a vagrant suspected as the arsonist), to accompany their story.

I recreated historic photographs of the Cambridge hotel, adding Hassett and setting it at night to give the illustration a sense of place and capture the mood of the story
